Hi Charlene,

Thank you for dropping by! I think you and I are on the same page. I really like your idea about creating our own "levels" of contacts within LI. If that capability was available, I would be far more inclined to accept every invitation that comes my way , knowing that I have the option to create categories or levels for them. FOR SURE, anyone who sends a generic invite would go into the lowest possible level, but that is another post!

Thanks again for your comments.

Regards,
Valerie

Thanks for writing your blog. I have thoroughly enjoyed reading it.

I prefer business, or networking, to be conducted face-to-face, on the telephone or video conferencing. But Linked In sure has changed the amount of worldwide professionals in my "levels" of networking. My first level network consist of professionals I have done business with or know personally. My second level consist of professionals in my fields (HR Management, Bikram Yoga and High-Tech Start-ups), but maybe I have not met. My third level consist of professionals that wish to be connected on Linked In to respectfully network, i.e. will not mind if I do not forward just any request and will not bombard me with meaningless messages. I do not have a way for me to distinguish my levels on Linked In but I have suggested leveling. For now, I can keep up with it.

I am an open networker but I do not accept to just anyone. I like having a wide network to easily contact with questions or find a specialist I may need for a client. And I love answering questions and helping those in my network. I love that I can connect with people on Linked In. I rarely accept a friend request on Facebook from someone I have not met, however, I have a accepted a few from my LinkedInPowerWomen group because it has already yielded a few great relationships.

Again thanks for sharing your thoughts... I look forward to your future blogs.
